BIOGRAPHY
As a double boarded anesthesiologist and interventional pain management physician, Dr. Haroutunian practices his lifelong passion of treating complex pain syndromes in Southern California. After concluding his anesthesiology training in Chicago, he returned to complete his fellowship training at his alma mater UCLA, at the David Geffen School of Medicine, Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine. To further advance his technical training and clinical acumen, Dr. Haroutunian began teaching the latest techniques in peripheral nerve stimulation utilizing ultrasound technology, hosting conferences and workshops with physicians across the United States. Dr. Haroutunian continues to remain at the forefront of pain medicine by presenting his research at national conferences. He has authored various book chapters and publications in topics including regenerative medicine, neuromodulation, peripheral pain, and advancements in ultrasonography. He has a special interest in treating fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, PTSD/anxiety/depression with the stellate ganglion injection.
Dr. Haroutunian believes in a comprehensive and multidisciplinary approach to treating pain, understanding that the mind-body connection serves an important purpose in physical and emotional development. Trained in cutting-edge technology, he treats a variety of musculoskeletal and nervous system disorders by performing procedures including but not limited to spinal cord and peripheral nerve stimulation, epidural injections, nerve blocks, facet blocks, radiofrequency ablations, ketamine therapy, and kyphoplasties. Dr. Haroutunian is trilingual, and fluent in English, Spanish, and Armenian. When he is not working, he is physically active and enjoys playing tennis, golf, traveling, drumming, and exercise.
