Do you sit in front of a computer a majority of the time you are at work? 50-70% of people spend five to seven hours a day sitting. Sitting for long periods has health consequences, including increased risk for obesity and chronic disease.
Even one hour of daily exercise cannot compensate for sitting at a desk for a prolonged period of time. Try to combat the dangerous effects of sitting by getting up and walking for five minutes once an hour. Also, stand while on conference calls or eating lunch. Start moving more during the day to help fight the dangerous effects of sitting.
